Wherever We Go, God is Faithful

In the middle of a problem, it is easy to lose sight of God’s faithfulness and His goodness. We often find ourselves focusing on our problems when we’re in them and forgetting everything else. But God has a purpose in the struggle and He is faithful, no matter what.

The book of Joshua opens with its main character, Joshua in a tough circumstance. After Moses’ death, God decided to put Joshua in charge of ALL of the Israelites that Moses had been leading on the journey to the promised land. To say that a huge role of leadership was suddenly given to Joshua would be an understatement! But Joshua was faithful throughout the rest of his journey leading God’s people to the promised land because He knew that, no matter what, God is faithful.

It’s so hard to remember that God is faithful when times are tough. Here are some ways to stay focused on Jesus through the struggle.

How Do We Stay Focused On Jesus While Struggling?

1) Remember God is faithful.

Joshua was able to maintain his focus on God because he REMEMBERED that God is faithful. In chapter 4, we see that Joshua even asked the people he was leading to remember God’s faithfulness by building a memorial where God had made a way for them to cross the Jordan river.

When we encounter a tough situation or a trial that seems to go on forever, we MUST remember that God is always faithful, and He is always faithful to His children. Forty years seems like forever but Moses nor Joshua lost sight of who God is. God’s character does not change no matter our circumstances. Do not lose sight of who God is because He is faithful.

2) Remember God’s promises.

Joshua REMEMBERED God’s promise to him: “Today I will begin to exalt you in the eyes of all Israel, so they may know that I am with you as I was with Moses. ” (Joshua 3:7).
If God could free a nation of people, Joshua believed that God could also be faithful in making him a leader. It wasn’t an easy road to lead a nation through wilderness to the Promised Land, but Joshua was faithful because he remembered God’s faithfulness in past promises.
In the trials we endure, remember that God promises to always be with us, no matter where we go.

3) Remember God is good.

Although we struggle, God intends everything to be for our good (Romans 8:28)!
God never said that life would be easy but we need to remember that He is faithful, He is good, and He keeps His promises: “Be strong and courageous. Do not be afraid; do not be discouraged, for the Lord your God will be with you wherever you go.” (Joshua 1:9)

God is the same yesterday, today and tomorrow - faithful.
