Your story is not ordinary

Every story matters to God because your story is His story. The moment we hear the Gospel and ask Jesus into our lives, we change. This renewal process is the ultimate proof of God's victory over sin.

A Defining Moment

For God, every day is “Show and Tell,” and our lives are the ultimate way He wows and woos those far from Him. In a world where seeing is believing and actions speak louder than words, everyone is looking to see whether Jesus is who we say He is. Does He really exist? Is He really the Savior? Does He really care?

Once we ask Jesus into our lives, our choices and interactions become the individual brush strokes of God’s giant, galactic masterpiece. The big picture reveals the breathtaking beauty of our Lord and Savior, the all-conquering hero who gave everything — including His own life — to rescue the people He loves, give them an abundant life on earth, and provide an eternal life with Him in His kingdom.

An Everyday Treasure

In Matthew 5, Jesus gives his most famous sermon, the Sermon on the Mount. His message to the crowds speaks to the countless daily aches and pains of an ordinary world — the world that doesn't satisfy, that is filled with grief, that is self-obsessed, that is corrupt, and that is in conflict. Our stories offer that same hope in a broken world.

At one time or another, all of us will be tempted to believe that our experiences and encounters are too small or too common to be important. We may ask, "What does an ordinary struggle with loss, illness, or anger have to do with God saving the whole world from the curse of sin?" The apostle Paul describes these everyday challenges as the "hidden treasure" of Christ inside our lives (2 Corinthians 4).

Jesus’ power is tested and valued when people see that our faith in His truth, our hope in His promises, and our love of His presence is what sustains us and brings us through daily struggles and failures. When our friends disappoint us, when words fail us, when success evades us and trouble finds us, Jesus is who carries us through.

A Masterpiece in the Making

Paul says all of our stories can be summed up in how God "comforts us in all our troubles, so that we can comfort those in any trouble with the comfort we ourselves receive from God" (2 Corinthians 1:4).

Our story matters because that's how Jesus becomes flesh and blood and moves into the neighborhood. Our stories matter to God because through our stories, others see His story.
