Session 18

Is There Any Justice In The World?

From 1 Peter: A 20-Day Devotional

A car whips into your parking spot when you have your blinker on, obviously ready to turn in. You’re waiting patiently in the “10 items or less” line, but the person in front of you clearly has 17 items.

We’ve all experienced it: injustice. Maybe you’ve experienced injustice on an even bigger scale.

The earliest followers of Jesus experienced serious injustice. They were ridiculed for living lives focused on God. One of the Church’s leaders, Peter, told them something difficult to remember when feeling wronged. He reminded them that Jesus himself experienced injustice. Jesus was punished even though He didn’t deserve it.

Because Jesus endured difficult circumstances for us, we can make it through our difficult circumstances.

God doesn’t let injustice go unnoticed. In Luke 18:6-8, Jesus promises He will take care of justice for us. Peter encourages followers of Jesus in 1 Peter 2:12 to keep doing good, because our good deeds will one day point others to God.

Reflect:

  • Have you ever faced injustice for being a follower of Jesus?
  • Is there anyone in your life you may need to forgive for treating you unfairly?
  • What is one way your life can point those around you to God?
