Session 2

The Gospel is always the answer

From Colossians: A 28-Day Devotional

If you are overwhelmed by life, take comfort in this: Jesus is making all things new.

The same good news that changed you is spreading through the world, changing others from the inside out (Colossians 1:6). And one day, all the brokenness will disappear when Jesus returns to set things right.

This is the Gospel. The good news that drew us to salvation and continues to fill us with hope after salvation. The longer we walk with Jesus, the more we understand what a gift He gives us when He saves us.

We receive forgiveness from sin, and we gain access to the Father. We receive the gift of eternal life and the power of the Holy Spirit. Jesus wasn’t just saving us so we’d be good one day. He saves us and invites us to experience His goodness every day.

We’re not meant to face our difficulties alone. So lean into the God who saved you to help you. Let His Spirit guide you instead of feeling the pressure to figure things out on your own. And trust those God has given to you.

God has placed you where and when you are for a purpose. The house you live in, the people you know — none of it is a coincidence. Just like Paul sent Epaphras to help the church at Colossae, God has put people in your life to love you and point you to His truth.

Let them in, and let them love you. There is more that God wants to do in you and through you.

Reflect:

  • Are you overwhelmed today? What’s weighing heavy on your mind?
  • How does the Gospel — the story of Jesus coming to earth to save us — give you hope amid that anxiety?
  • How do you stay connected to God? What is one way you can stay better connected?
