Gauntlet is a summer camp experience like no other.

Rising seventh graders through graduated seniors will gather from across the state of South Carolina for an incredible week of fun, games, friendship, powerful worship, and practical Bible teaching. Join students from every NewSpring campus as we learn together that God is with us — and that makes all the difference.

Worship

We believe that worship invites the presence of God, and we can’t wait to encounter God as we worship together.

Teaching

Each session is led by pastors and teachers who are passionate about sharing God’s Word and discipling a generation into a lifetime of following Jesus.

Every student at Gauntlet will be part of high-energy team competitions, engaging activities, and daily free time.

Our Group Leaders and Support Volunteers are essential to creating a safe and fun Gauntlet experience students love year after year.

Group Leaders journey through Gauntlet with their students from start to finish, shepherding them through the week and bringing the energy and fun! Being a Group Leader is a rigorous role that means keeping up with your students’ pace through long, active days — but it’s so worth it to see the life change that takes place!

Where do students stay?

Students will stay in Clemson University dorm rooms with one other Fuse student. Leaders will be in their own rooms in the same dorms.

Where and what do students eat?

Students will eat all meals in the dining hall at Clemson University. They offer a wide variety of foods to accommodate any preferences or allergies your student has.

What is a day at Gauntlet like?

Imagine all 13 NewSpring campuses meeting together in one building. Then, throw in some epic games, new friends, and a week of memories. Practically, Gauntlet will consist of sessions with Bible teaching, powerful worship, small group time, activities, good food, and fun. We will have a 4-to-1 student-to-leader ratio because we care about students and want every student to have a fun and safe week.

How much does it cost to go to Gauntlet as a student?

Early Bird student pricing is $449 and will be available until February 26, so register quickly! Full-price tickets are $499 and will be available from February 27 to April 9. 

Tickets cover students’ transportation, rooms, meals, resources, and all Gauntlet activities. If your student wants to purchase snacks or a souvenir from the Gauntlet Store, they’ll need some extra spending money. 

Registering more than one student? This year, we are offering a multi-student discount to 2+ students registered within the same family/household.

Will there be a parent/guardian meeting?

This year, you will receive an email from your student(s) Fuse Pastor prior to Gauntlet that will provide detailed information about where to park on departure day, what to pack, how to handle student(s) medication, and any other important information.This email will be delivered to the email you used to register your student(s). How much does it cost to go to Gauntlet as a volunteer?

Group Leader and Support Volunteer tickets are $125. Tickets cover volunteers’ transportation, rooms, meals, resources, and all Gauntlet activities. If you want to purchase snacks or a souvenir from the Gauntlet store, you’ll need some extra spending money.

What if I can’t afford the ticket price?

Whatever the barrier, we’d love to talk about it and see if we can help. To apply for financial assistance, please fill out this form, and a campus staff member will be in touch!

What if our plans change? Can I get a refund?

No. After signing up for Gauntlet, your ticket is non-refundable and non-transferable. If you have any questions, please email gauntlet@newspring.cc.

Will safety staff and volunteers be at Gauntlet?

Yes. Campus safety staff and volunteers will be present at Gauntlet. We assign one volunteer leader to every four students. This leader has been background checked, interviewed, and trained.

What is the role of a Group Leader?

Group Leaders serve the entire week of Gauntlet, June 23-27. As a Group Leader, you will travel to and from Gauntlet with your campus, stay in dorms with students, eat in the dining hall with students, and engage in everyday activities with your group. Your primary role during this week will be to shepherd and care for the students in your group by leading group discussions, participating in worship, and leading the way in fun and energy. Group leaders must also feel confident in meeting the physical demands of the week (weather elements, hilly terrain, long-serving hours). Apply here to begin the process.

What is the role of a Support Volunteer?

All support volunteers will serve the entire week of Gauntlet (beginning the afternoon of Sunday, June 22, through the completion on Friday, June 27). They will stay in assigned Clemson University dormitory housing, eat meals in the campus dining halls, and feel confident in meeting the physical demands of the week (weather elements, hilly terrain, long-serving hours). Support Volunteers could serve in the following positions: Hospitality (Volunteer Headquarters, Dining), Fuse Zone (Serving students with special needs), Ministry Team (Supporting group leaders with care conversations and baptism sign-ups), Environments Team (student experience and environments), Event Support Team (Designated team assigned by the event organizers to cover a wide variety of positions and responsibilities), and Student Logistics (student arrival/departure, cross campus shuttles, medical transport, and dorm leaders). Apply here to begin the process.

If I just graduated high school, can I still come to Gauntlet?

Yes! Students who graduate high school in May 2025 can attend Gauntlet as seniors.

If I’m starting middle school in the fall, can I come to Gauntlet?

Not yet. To come to Gauntlet, students must have completed sixth grade. But we can’t wait to see you at Fuse in the summer!

What should I do if there is an emergency while my student is at Gauntlet?

We have an emergency phone line parents can call to contact their students. You will learn more about this in the parent email sent out on June 2.

What does a typical day at Gauntlet look like for a student with special needs?

Our special needs ministry follows the same schedule as everyone who attends Gauntlet. The only difference is we have the flexibility and accommodations to meet our students' needs. Or, it might mean using a student guide designed for special needs during small group and quiet time.

What is the student/volunteer ratio for my student(s) with special needs?

In most cases, we have a 1-to-1 volunteer to student ratio. Depending on students' ages and needs, we sometimes place one volunteer with two students.
