Session 25

Good advice for every leader

From 2 Chronicles: A 28-Day Devotional

In 2 Chronicles 19:5-10, Jehosaphat delegated some of the responsibilities for ruling and judging the people, and he warned his appointees that they were accountable to God for the standards they used to judge others.

Jehosaphat's advice is helpful for all leaders — from those who lead at home, in the community, at church, in a small group, in a fitness class, even at work. In any area of life, good leaders show four qualities:

Not only are these good qualities to look for in a leader, but these are also the qualities we hold ourselves to as God's ambassadors. Every role we have is an opportunity to represent God, to show impartiality, to exercise our faithfulness, and to be obedient to God.

Leadership is determined by influence, not titles, and God has given all of us positions of influence. When we approach whatever area of leadership God has given us with these things in mind, we have the potential to radically change our homes, our workplaces, our schools, and our communities.

Reflect:

  • Where has God given you leadership opportunities?
  • How can you use your influence to point others to Jesus?
  • What is your next step to grow in leadership?
